Baja California Day 3
San Benitos Island
A chance to get off the boat today and visit San Benitos which holds a sizable colony of Northern Elephant Seals. At this time of the year the big males are largely out to sea so the ones that were left were a mixture of young and moulting adults.
Elephant Seals are often quite bad tempered - well who wouldn't be when your skin is peeling off, you are covered in flies and all you've got to scratch with are flippers.
The island also had two osprey nests close to where we landed both sited dramatically high upon the cliff edges.
